The Ben Holder Trio

An evening of gypsy, swing and traditional jazz

23rd April 2022

Our first event of the year and our first event for just over two years and what a way to celebrate our return! The extraordinarily talented jazz violinist, Ben Holder entertained a large audience in Flore Millennium Hall to two sets of carefree, energetic and sometimes hot-blooded gypsy-jazz interspersed with mainstream, traditional and swing standards.

Ben introduced each piece with jokes, witty comments and anecdotes and his irrepressible playing style led you to believe his violin was an extension of his very energetic and unstoppable body.

The highlight of the show for many of the audience came in the second set when Ben abandoned his amplification and played some acoustic numbers with lighting turned down in the body of the audience. He created the ambience of a Parisian café in the 1930s with Stephane Grappelli playing at table and the audience was spellbound.

This was an evening that our audience will not forget – an evening of musical virtuosity, freedom and extraordinary passion – Flore Arts Events will certainly be welcoming The Ben Holder Trio back to the village in the near future.
