Budapest Cafe Orchestra

22 October 2022

Returning for their first concert in Flore since 2018, The Budapest Café Orchestra performed a stunning repertoire of jazz-based eastern European, Balkan and Scottish music to a sell-out audience in All Saints Church Flore.

Led by one of the UK’s most celebrated jazz violinists, Christian Garrick on violin and darabuka, the Budapest Café Orchestra comprised Eddie Hession on button accordion, Kelvin Cantlon on double bass and Adrian Zolotuhin playing guitar, balalaika and domra.

They played two 45-minute sets which highlighted their roots in jazz and classical music through a range of Hungarian, Romanian and Russian gypsy songs interspersed with their unique interpretations of Brahms, Mahler and Gaelic melodies.

An evening of beautiful uplifting music had the entire audience on its feet calling for encores which not only were BCO happy to play but an evening which will repeat in 2024 when we book them again!
