On a very hot summer’s Sunday afternoon, more than 200 people arrived at the Rock Springs garden with their cool-boxes, parasols and gazebos to enjoy an afternoon of trad jazz, cakes and scones, ice cream, prosecco and real-ale.

 

 As organisers we try not to repeat the same events each year, but Jazz In The Garden is our most popular fixture and firm favourite with our audiences and over the years has become the first entry in our annual calendar.

 

New Orleans Heat entertained our audience to three sets of jazz standards which incorporated some fine boogie-woogie piano playing and great instrumental solos. Sadly, this was the group’s final performance as they have decided not to continue playing together in the future. We are very grateful, therefore, that they agreed to play this one last show especially for us.

 

Despite the heat of the afternoon many of the audience ventured from the shade to spontaneously dance to the wonderful music that was being played and to refresh themselves at our cake stall and bar.

 

We have provisionally booked a new band for Jazz In The Garden 2023 for 16th July 2023 so make a note in your diaries now!
