Flore Arts Events was formed in 2016 in the village of Flore, Northamptonshire by a group of like-minded people with the objective of raising money for local charities through a programme of arts-related events and activities. Since our inception we have hosted a range of musical events from early music to jazz - not to mention poetry evenings and a silent movie night.​​

Many thanks to all of you who have so generously supported our events. We have now raised in excess of £35,000 for local charities.​

At the end of another busy year we have one more event before Christmas and then two 2027 diary dates for you.

Poetry Please: Sunday November 6th. The theme will be “Changes”. As usual feel free to bring along any poem you would like to share, not necessarily related to the theme. Or just come and listen. Meet at the White Hart in Flore, 6.30pm to 8.00pm.

Silent Movie evening: Saturday January 9th, 7.30pm, All Saints Church, Flore. Here’s an evening to really bring the silent movie era to life. Vincent Byrne’s talented and versatile organ and piano accompaniment to two silver screen classics proved a huge hit in Flore Arts Events’ first year in 2016, so we are delighted to welcome him back. 

Vincent made his silent movie accompanist debut in Birmingham more than a decade ago, performing for members of the “Laughing Gravy Tent” Laurel & Hardy Appreciation society. He has continued to wow audiences across the Midlands ever since. This time, as an added bonus, Vincent will be joined by renowned vintage jazz drummer Nick Ward, who will be supplying just the right special effects from his percussion kit.

Vincent and Nick will be presenting three films for us. Critics praised Charlie Chaplin’s “The Adventurer” from 1917 for its “generous share of sure-fire comedy business” and “irresistible pantomime”. Buster Keaton’s “The Boat” dates from 1921; Keaton considered it one of his personal favourites, and The Washington Post recognised the film as a classic, praising its clever portrayal of naval mishaps. And Laurel and Hardy’s final silent film, the 1929 “Angora Love”, provides an entertaining tale of mishaps resulting from too much generosity to… a goat.
