Flore Arts Events was formed in 2016 in the village of Flore, Northamptonshire by a group of like-minded people with the objective of raising money for local charities through a programme of arts-related events and activities. Since our inception we have hosted a range of musical events from early music to jazz - not to mention poetry evenings and a silent movie night.

We have now donated over £29,500 to local charities.

Three more events from us this year.

Budapest Café Orchestra: Saturday October 19th, 7.30pm (doors open 7pm). All Saints Church. A return visit from a group who have previously thrilled us with varied and lively music inspired by the Eastern European gypsy tradition.

Led by award-winning British composer, violinist and teacher Christian Garrick since 2009, this electrifying 4-piece group play gypsy and folk-flavoured music from all around the world. We can expect traditional Balkan, Russian, Hungarian and Romanian melodies delivered in BCO’s own fresh and surprising way, not to mention jazz overtones and the group’s own unique arrangements.
Tickets: £20 (£10 for under 18s). Call Rosemary Read (between 9am and 6pm) on 01327 341026.

Folk Fiddle evening: Saturday November 16th, 7.30pm (doors open 7pm). All Saints Church. Another return visit from a highly accomplished duo: Jenny Newman (fiddle) and Andy Glass (guitar). They will be supported by the massed ranks of The Big Fiddle Band. Jenny Newman’s versatile playing has been described as “traditional fiddling at its best…never less than stunning” and “a joy to listen to”, while under her direction the exciting Big Fiddle Band will bring us rousing ensemble performances of fiddle tunes from the British Isles and beyond.

Tickets: £10 (£5 for under 18s). Call Rosemary Read (between 9am and 6pm) on 01327 341026.

Meanwhile our next “Poetry Please” session will have a “Lords and Ladies” theme, focusing on days of chivalry and romance. Knights in shining armour? Ladies locked in towers? Tales of derring-do? Or even just ennobled poets? As usual feel free to bring along any poem you would like to share, not necessarily related to the theme. Or just come and listen. Meet at The White Hart in Flore, Sunday October 13th, 6.30pm – 8pm.

We hope to see you soon.
